Alexandra Hopf &

Alexandra Hopf &
Alexandra Hopf presents the catalog and film collage »Screen Memories«

The artist introduces her catalog »Screen Memories«, recently published by Salon Verlag. At the same time, she will present a short film with the same title, which will be screened as a loop that night on the premises in the gallery.

The projection »Screen Memories« is a montage created from material from the artist’s archive. It is the third film following the principle of transforming images, works and fragments of works, production processes and models, texts and research material into a cinematographic collage. Ian White describes this sequence of images as »a symbolic order pointing to an elsewhere of things (...). The museum without walls rendered through an imaginary proscenium arch. An archive and its dramatis personae, dramaturgy without a plot.«

The catalog »Screen Memories« begins and ends as well with image and text collages, weaving together cinematographic elements with the artist’s work and vita. The publication documents works by Alexandra Hopf that have been created in the last four years; these are complemented by texts of renowned authors like Annabelle von Girsewald, Anna-Lena Wenzel, and Marc Wrasse. And the artist herself, too, has contributed a short story.

We look forward to seeing you!
